Our verdict — BEST ALL-ROUNDER
The Nomad 1 Plus is the conventional bike in Velotric's line-up and the easiest of the three to recommend without qualification. 750W, 75 Nm, 691Wh, 26 × 4.0 tires, an 80 mm hydraulic fork with a lock-out, hydraulic discs and a 440 lb payload is a specification you can find elsewhere on this site for several hundred dollars less. What $1,899 buys on top of it is the paperwork: both UL 2849 and UL 2271, UL 2580 cells named, ISO 4210, and a range figure with its test conditions printed beside it. The compromise is the sensor. This is a cadence-sensor bike, where the T1 ST Plus below it and several cheaper bikes on this site use torque sensors, and on a 70 lb machine that difference is something you meet every time you set off. Buy it for the fork, the payload and the certification; do not buy it expecting the assist to feel refined.

Velotric list the Nomad 1 Plus at $1,899 with no reduction against it, as of the price check in our data file on August 27, 2026. It is the middle bike of the three we cover from the brand, and on paper the least remarkable: a 48V 750W rear hub motor producing 75 Nm, 26 × 4.0 in puncture-resistant tires, hydraulic discs, a 691Wh battery.
Start with the arithmetic the rest of this site runs on. Watt-hours are the only battery figure worth comparing across brands, and dividing the price by them gives a value line that cuts across marketing language entirely: $1,899 ÷ 691Wh = $2.75 per watt-hour.

That is the cheapest energy Velotric sell among the bikes we cover: better than the Packer 1 at $3.18 and far better than the T1 ST Plus at $3.97. It is also beaten by seven of the other eleven bikes we cover. The VTUVIA SF20H is $2.08 and the Zeal LT7 the same; the SX20 is $2.38 and the EUNORAU META26 $2.36. AMYET are in a different bracket again, at $0.72 to $0.93.
So you can buy this specification for several hundred dollars less on this site. What the extra money buys is not in the motor. It is in the fork, the payload ceiling and the paperwork.
Velotric claim up to 55 miles on pedal assist and up to 52 miles on throttle, and — alone among the four brands we cover — they print the conditions underneath: a 187-lb rider using PAS 1 on flat roads. AMYET, VTUVIA and EUNORAU state no test conditions at all; their range figures arrive bare, which is why we treat this footnote as a feature rather than small print.
Divide their own numbers: 691Wh ÷ 55 miles = 12.6Wh per mile. That is a low but not fantastical draw for a fat-tire bike ridden gently on the flat, which is exactly what the footnote describes. It is one of the more believable range claims on this site.
The throttle figure deserves a second look. Fifty-two miles on throttle alone is 691Wh ÷ 52 = 13.3Wh per mile, barely more than the pedal-assist figure. On a 70 lb bike with four-inch tires, throttle riding almost always costs considerably more per mile than pedalling at light assist, so treat the two numbers as sitting closer together on the page than they will on the road. The specification that most separates the Nomad from bikes at its price is an 80 mm hydraulic front fork with a lock-out.
Two words are doing the work. Hydraulic means the fork is damped, so it settles after a hit instead of springing back and bouncing — coil-sprung forks at this price commonly do the second thing, and on a heavy bike a pogoing front end is tiring rather than comfortable. Lock-out means you can switch the travel off. An unlockable fork absorbs a fraction of every pedal stroke, which is energy you put in and do not get back; on a long flat commute that is both slower and more tiring than a rigid front end.
So the Nomad gives you a rigid bike for the road section and 80 mm of damped travel when you turn off it. Velotric fit the same fork to the Packer 1 and none at all to the T1 ST Plus.

Payload is a total: you, your clothing, the lock, the rack and everything on it. The bike’s own 70 or 71 lb is not counted. At 440 lb the Nomad and the Packer sit 90 lb above the next best here, the Zeal LT7 at 350 lb, and 154 lb above the META26 at 286 lb. A 250 lb rider still has nearly 190 lb of headroom, which is the difference between doing the sum and worrying about it. Fit is the other half of that story. Velotric publish 5 ft 1 in to 6 ft 4 in for the step-through and 5 ft 6 in to 6 ft 9 in for the high-step. That upper figure is the tallest accommodated anywhere on this site, and the two frames together cover the widest span here. The step-through weighs a pound less and is the only frame offered in Cyan; the high-step comes in Indigo Gray or Forest.
This is the compromise, and it is worth being blunt about it.
A cadence sensor asks one question — are the cranks turning — and if the answer is yes it delivers whatever assist level the display is set to, regardless of how hard you push. A torque sensor measures your effort and scales the motor to match. So a cadence bike arrives in a lump a beat after you start pedalling and holds a fixed output until you stop, which means pulling away at lights and filtering through traffic take a little managing. On a 70 lb fat-tire bike that lag is more obvious than it would be on a light frame.
Cadence sensors are normal for fat-tire bikes at this money, so this is not a fault. What makes it awkward is the company the bike keeps. Velotric’s own T1 ST Plus at $1,399 has a torque sensor. So does the VTUVIA Zeal LT7 at $1,299 and the EUNORAU META26 at $1,699, and the VTUVIA SX20 at $1,599 lets you switch between the two. Eight of the nine non-AMYET bikes here state a sensor type, and on this specification the Nomad is beaten by cheaper machines including one from its own brand.
Velotric state UL 2849 for the bike, UL 2271 Recognized for the battery, UL 2580 for the Samsung or LG 21700 cells inside it, and ISO 4210 compliance for the frame. All three Velotrics state that same set, which makes Velotric the only brand here where every model names both UL numbers.
Outside the brand only VTUVIA’s SF20H names both, and it names neither the cell standard nor ISO 4210. The Zeal LT7, the SX20, the META26 and the FLASH state nothing at all; the SPECTER-S says it is UL certified without naming a standard; two of the three AMYETs name UL 2849 alone. If your building, your landlord or your insurer wants certification in writing before you charge indoors, that is most of the shortlist.
Four gaps on this model, and they are more conspicuous than on either stablemate.
There is no peak motor output — only the 750W rated figure, where the T1 ST Plus publishes both a rated and a 600W peak. There is no rotor diameter and no piston count for the brakes, which are described only as hydraulic disc; both other Velotrics specify theirs. There is no charge time, which is true across the range. And there is no water-resistance rating for the bike itself, only IPX7 for the battery, where the T1 is rated IPX6 and the Packer is too.
One more silence is odder than any of those. Velotric state a top speed of 20 MPH and no class designation at all, where they call the T1 a Class 1/3 bike and the Packer a Class 2. With a removable thumb throttle and a 20 MPH ceiling it reads as a Class 2 machine, but that is our reading of the specification and not a claim Velotric make. If class matters where you ride, ask them in writing rather than inferring it as we have.
Inside the range, the Nomad is the default. Against the T1 ST Plus it adds 338Wh, 400W of rated motor, 35 Nm, a suspension fork, a throttle and 110 lb of payload, and costs $500 more while weighing about 31 lb more. Against the Packer 1 it gives up a 176 lb rack, four-piston brakes and an IPX6 rating, and saves $300, four to five pounds and the inconvenience of a battery that cannot come indoors on its own. If your load is a laptop and a lock rather than a passenger, the Nomad is both the better bike and the cheaper one.
Against the wider field it is priced above its specification and pays you back in fittings and paperwork. Buy it for the lock-out fork, the 440 lb ceiling, the fit range and the certification. Do not buy it expecting the assist to feel refined, and if that is what you want, look at the T1 or spend less elsewhere. Enough to be the main thing to think about. On a cadence bike the motor engages a beat after the pedals start turning and holds a fixed output until you stop, so setting off from lights and riding slowly in traffic take a little management. On a 70 lb fat-tire bike that lag is more noticeable than it would be on a light frame. It is not a fault — most fat-tire bikes at this price are cadence bikes — but Velotric's own T1 ST Plus and several bikes below $1,600 on this site are not, and if assist feel matters to you that is where to look.
On tarmac, yes. An unlockable suspension fork absorbs some of every pedal stroke, which is wasted energy and, on a long flat commute, noticeable. Locking it out gives you a rigid front end for the road section and 80 mm of hydraulic travel when you turn off it. Hydraulic damping also means the fork settles instead of pogoing, which coil-spring forks at this price generally do not.
The step-through fits 5'1" to 6'4", weighs a pound less, and is the only frame offered in Cyan. The high-step fits 5'6" to 6'9" and is the stiffer frame, in Indigo Gray or Forest. If you are between 5'6" and 6'4" either will fit and it comes down to whether you want to swing a leg over a loaded bike. If you carry panniers or a rack bag, the step-through is easier to live with than its reputation suggests.

A fat-tire bike at moderate assist typically draws 18 to 25Wh per mile, which puts real-world range around 28 to 38 miles. That is a normal gap between a claim and a ride, not an implausible one — compare the 220-mile figure elsewhere on this site.
