Our verdict — BEST PERFORMANCE

The SPECTER-S is the most complete bike on this site and the most expensive. A Bafang G510 mid-drive with 160 Nm and a torque sensor, an inverted 140mm fork and a 190mm DNM rear shock, SRAM NX 11-speed gearing, a 30-amp controller, an 840Wh pack that takes an optional second battery, 28 MPH, and — unusually for this segment — two actual frame sizes with a published fit range and a stated UL certification. At $2,999 it should be complete, and it is. Whether it is worth twice the VTUVIA SF20H depends entirely on whether you will use a mid-drive's ability to climb.

  • You want a torque sensor and 11 gears so the motor's 160 Nm is usable on real climbs.
  • You want a frame in your size rather than one size with a long seatpost.

What $2,999 buys that $1,699 does not

EUNORAU lists the SPECTER-S 3.0 at $2,999, reduced from $3,799 as of the price check in our data file on August 21, 2026. It is the most expensive bike on this site by $500, and $1,300 more than EUNORAU's own META26.

Start with what it is not buying. The pack is 48V × 17.5Ah = 840 watt-hours. Divide the price by the energy and you get about $3.57 per watt-hour, which is the most expensive stored energy we cover — nearly five times the AMYET V9-G60 at roughly $0.72, and more even than the FLASH 2.0 at about $3.00.

What it is buying instead

A named Bafang mid-drive. A torque sensor. SRAM NX 11-speed gearing. Suspension with both the components named and the travel published at each end. Two actual frame sizes across a published fit range. A payload figure. A charge time. A stated certification. Read that list again and notice how much of it is not hardware at all — it is information. That is the difference $1,300 buys over the META26, and it is a defensible thing to spend money on.

Why a known motor matters in year five

EUNORAU publishes the motor as a 48V 1000W Bafang G510, also sold as the M620. That is not a detail; it is arguably the single best reason to buy this bike.

An unnamed house-brand motor may be perfectly good. The problem arrives after the two-year warranty ends, when something small fails and you need a part.

What a well-known motor gets you

  • Firmware. The G510 is used across many brands. Documented parameter sets, known behaviours and a community that has already found the quirks all exist for it.
  • Spare parts. Controllers, sensors, chainrings and the specific bottom-bracket interface a G510 uses are stocked by third parties, not only by the bike's importer.
  • Displays. EUNORAU fits a DP C010.C8 CAN-bus display. CAN-bus systems are fussier about what they will talk to than simple serial ones — but a widely used motor means widely available compatible units, rather than a single part number from one supplier.
  • Shops that recognise it. A local bike shop that has never heard of your bike will still have opened a G510. That is the difference between a repair and a write-off.

Compare that with the FLASH, which uses a Truckrun mid-drive — a real named component, and a far less common one. Or with the AMYET range, where no motor manufacturer is published at all. On a bike you intend to keep for years, the aftermarket is part of the specification.

160 Nm through eleven gears

EUNORAU publishes 160 Nm, second on this site only to the FLASH's 220. Because the SPECTER-S is a mid-drive, that torque goes through the chainring and is multiplied by whichever of the eleven gears you are in, rather than being applied directly at the wheel as a hub motor's is.

The drivetrain is SRAM NX 11-speed, the only 11-speed on this site — every other bike here is a 7-speed or, on the FLASH, an 8-speed. On a hub-motor bike the gear count is mostly about your own pedalling comfort, because gears do not multiply the motor's output. On a mid-drive it is a performance specification. A wide-range 11-speed cassette gives a lower bottom gear for the climb and a usable top gear for 28 MPH on the flat, and it is what turns 160 Nm at the cranks into genuine climbing rather than a number on a card.

The controller figure, read properly

EUNORAU does not publish a peak wattage. They publish a 48V 30A controller instead, which is arguably more honest: 48V × 30A is about 1,440W of electrical input at full draw. That is the electrical ceiling the system will pull, not a mechanical output figure, and it should not be compared directly against a marketing "peak watts" number from another brand.

Suspension you can actually check

EUNORAU publishes an inverted suspension fork with 140mm of travel and a DNM rear shock with 190mm of travel. Both components are named. Both travel figures are given.

That sounds like a small thing and it is not. Across the rest of this site, suspension appears as "full suspension", "dual shock absorber" or "lockable dual shock" with no travel figure, no damping description and no manufacturer. The AMYET S8 is described as full suspension and publishes nothing further. Travel figures are the minimum information needed to know what a suspension design is for: 140mm front and 190mm rear is trail-bike territory, not a token 40mm of comfort fork.

Paired with a KENDA 26 × 4.0 tire — the largest-diameter fat setup on this site — it gives the bike a better approach angle over obstacles than the 20-inch fat bikes here, and it carries speed over rough ground rather than being deflected by it. The brakes are 180mm hydraulic discs with motor cut-off switches in the levers — the same arrangement as the META26. On a 110 lb bike claiming 28 MPH, hydraulics are a requirement rather than a feature.

Two frame sizes, and why nothing else here has them

EUNORAU offers the SPECTER-S in a 17-inch and a 19-inch frame, with a published fit range of 5 ft 3 in to 6 ft 4 in. It is the only bike on this site available in more than one size.

Why this cannot be fixed with a seatpost

On a hardtail, sizing is largely a seat-height problem, and a long seatpost absorbs a lot of it. A rider at 5 ft 4 in and a rider at 6 ft can share a frame and both be roughly comfortable.

On a full-suspension bike that stops being true. The reach from saddle to bars, the position of the pivot, the linkage geometry and where your weight sits relative to the rear axle are all set by the frame and cannot be adjusted afterwards. Getting it wrong does not just feel odd — it changes how the suspension behaves under you, because a rider sitting too far forward or back loads the linkage differently than the designer intended. A too-large or too-small full-suspension frame is a permanent condition.

That EUNORAU offers two sizes here, and that they publish the fit range that goes with them, is the clearest signal on the listing that this bike was specified by someone thinking about riders rather than about a spec sheet.

28 MPH, and where that sits legally

EUNORAU publishes a 28 MPH top speed, and the precision of that figure matters more than the speed does.

Around forty US states use a three-class framework: Class 1 is pedal assist to 20 MPH; Class 2 adds a throttle, still capped at 20; Class 3 is pedal assist to 28 MPH. Twenty-eight is exactly the Class 3 ceiling. A bike claiming 32 MPH — as the AMYET V9-G60 and S8 do — sits outside all three classes in most of those states, which can mean it is not legally an e-bike at all and is treated as a moped, with registration, licensing and insurance following on.

The certification question to put to them

EUNORAU states that the SPECTER-S is UL certified. It is the only bike in their range with any certification claim on the listing, and that is worth something. What they do not do is name the standard, and the two that matter are not interchangeable.

UL 2271 certifies the battery pack alone. UL 2849 certifies the complete electrical system — pack, charger, controller and motor tested together. The distinction is not academic: most lithium incidents involve the interaction between charger, pack and controller rather than a single cell failing in isolation, which is why building managers, insurers and jurisdictions such as New York City have generally written UL 2849 into their requirements rather than UL 2271.

For contrast, VTUVIA's SF20H states both UL 2271 and UL 2849 by number, on a bike that costs $1,399. There is no reason a $2,999 bike should be less specific than a $1,399 one.

If certification is why you are buying — and if you charge indoors in an apartment building, it probably should be — ask EUNORAU which standard applies to the SPECTER-S and get the certificate number in writing before you order. An unnamed "UL certified" is not something a building manager will accept.

The weight, the price, and who it is for

Two caveats remain, and neither is small.

The bike is 50 kg, approximately 110 lb — the same as the FLASH, and everything that follows from that applies here too: no standard car rack, no carrying it upstairs, ground-level storage, a hitch rack rated well above the usual 60 lb per bike. A 300 lb published payload is a reasonable figure and better than the META26's 286 lb, though below the 330 lb and 350 lb ratings on the VTUVIA and AMYET bikes.

And the price is the price. At $2,999 the SPECTER-S has to justify itself against a stablemate that gives 220 Nm, full suspension and more battery capacity for $500 less. The honest answer is that the FLASH is the more powerful machine and the SPECTER-S is the better bike to own: a torque sensor you know exists, eleven gears instead of eight, travel figures at both ends, a frame in your size, a payload rating, a charge time of 5 to 8 hours, and a motor with an aftermarket behind it.

EUNORAU claims up to 80 miles with the optional second 15Ah battery fitted. That is 840Wh + 720Wh = 1,560Wh, and 1,560 ÷ 80 works out at 19.5Wh per mile — a demanding but not absurd figure for a mid-drive with a torque sensor ridden sensibly, and a far more defensible claim than the FLASH's 220 miles. On the standard pack alone at a more conservative 25Wh per mile, 840 ÷ 25 = about 34 miles.

Buy the SPECTER-S if you want a properly specified full-suspension mid-drive and a frame that fits you, and if the difference between a documented bike and an impressive one is worth $500 to you. Skip it if you are buying on price per watt-hour, if you need to move the bike by car, or if you want maximum torque for the money. SPECTER-S 3.0 — common questions

Why does a Bafang motor matter?

Because of what happens after the warranty. Bafang's G510, also sold as the M620, is used across many brands, which means firmware, spare parts, replacement displays and independent shops that know it are all easy to find. An unnamed house-brand motor may be perfectly good and still leave you stuck when a part fails in year four. On a $2,999 bike, that is a real part of the value.

Is a mid-drive worth it over a hub motor?

If you climb, yes. A hub motor pushes the wheel directly, so its torque is fixed regardless of gear. A mid-drive turns the chainring, so your gears multiply it — in the SPECTER-S's lowest gear, 160 Nm at the cranks becomes far more at the wheel. If you ride mostly flat, a hub motor is simpler, cheaper and does not wear your chain and cassette. The mid-drive premium buys climbing, not speed.

What does 28 MPH mean legally?

It is exactly the top-speed ceiling for a Class 3 e-bike under the three-class model most US states use. That is a meaningful place to sit: a bike claiming 32 MPH is outside the framework entirely in many states. Class 3 is generally allowed on roads and bike lanes, but access to shared-use paths and trails varies by state and by city, so check locally before you rely on it.

Do the two frame sizes matter?

On a full-suspension bike, yes, considerably. Sizing a hardtail is largely about seat height, which a long seatpost can absorb. On full suspension the reach and the geometry of the linkage are fixed by the frame, so a frame that is too large or too small cannot be corrected by adjustments. EUNORAU offering 17-inch and 19-inch frames across a 5'3" to 6'4" fit range is the only proper sizing on this site.

Is it actually UL certified?

EUNORAU states UL certification on the listing but does not give the standard number, and the two that matter are different: UL 2271 certifies the battery pack, UL 2849 certifies the complete electrical system. VTUVIA's SF20H states both explicitly. If a building manager has asked you for certification in writing, ask EUNORAU which standard applies before ordering.
