These two brands do not overlap on price and they barely overlap on argument. AMYET sells watt-hours: the V9-G60 holds 960Wh for $689, which is roughly 72 cents per watt-hour and the best energy per dollar on this site. VTUVIA sells everything a watt-hour is not — hydraulic brakes with a stated rotor size, a published torque figure on every bike, a stated sensor type, a stated bike weight, a rider height range, and on the SF20H two UL standards. If your ground is flat and your budget is finite, AMYET is the honest answer. If you need to know what you are buying before it arrives, VTUVIA is.

Two brands that never meet on price

AMYET's three bikes run from $669 to $1,049. VTUVIA's three run from $1,299 to $1,599. The most expensive AMYET we cover, the S8 at $1,049, is $250 cheaper than the cheapest VTUVIA, the Zeal LT7 at $1,299. There is no price point at which these two brands are asking you to choose between them on equal terms.

That makes this the cleanest illustration on the site of the one argument that runs through everything we publish. Below about $1,200 you are buying watt-hours. Above it you stop buying watt-hours and start buying brakes, sensors, gearing, suspension, certification and — most of all — published specifications.

AMYET in one paragraph

AMYET sells direct into the US market at the bottom of the fat-tire price band. All three bikes carry 1000W rated hub motors. Two of them claim 1500W peak and the S8 claims 3000W combined peak from two motors. Claimed top speeds are 28 MPH on the EB26 and up to 32 MPH on the G60 and the S8. Payload is 330 lb across the range. The packs are large: 720Wh, 960Wh and 1,200Wh. What the listings do not carry is a motor torque figure, an assist sensor type or a bike weight — and not for one model as an oversight, but for all three.

VTUVIA in one paragraph

VTUVIA's bikes are less powerful on the headline numbers and far better described. Rated motors are 500W on the Zeal LT7 and 750W on the SF20H and SX20. All three ship factory limited to 20 MPH as Class 2 machines. Against that, VTUVIA publishes torque in newton-metres for every bike — 65 Nm, 85 Nm and 85 Nm — the sensor type for every bike, the bike weight for every bike at 62, 60 and 70 lb, a rider height range for every bike, hydraulic brakes with a stated 180mm rotor across the range, and on the Zeal LT7 the fork travel and the exact Shimano derailleur and shifter model numbers.

The money: what a watt-hour costs at each brand

Price per nominal watt-hour is a crude measure and a revealing one. It is arithmetic rather than judgement: take the price the merchant asks today, divide by the energy the standard pack holds, and see what a unit of stored energy costs you. Nominal energy is simply volts multiplied by amp-hours.

The arithmetic, all six bikes

Every AMYET bike is under a dollar. Every VTUVIA bike is over two dollars. There is no overlap and no close call.

The whole-range sum is starker still. All three AMYET bikes together cost $669 + $689 + $1,049 = $2,407 and hold 720 + 960 + 1,200 = 2,880Wh. All three VTUVIA bikes together cost $1,299 + $1,399 + $1,599 = $4,297 and hold 624 + 672 + 672 = 1,968Wh.

So VTUVIA's range costs $1,890 more in total and holds 912Wh less. That is the shape of the whole comparison in two numbers.

What the gap does not mean

Watt-hours are stored energy, not miles. A bike goes as far as its pack divided by what it draws per mile, and that depends on tire width, rider weight, assist level, terrain and wind.

Take a fairly typical 25Wh per mile for a fat-tire bike on moderate assist with an average rider. The G60 at 960Wh ÷ 25 ≈ 38 miles. The SF20H at 672Wh ÷ 25 ≈ 27 miles. Both are estimates, not measurements, and both sit well below the headline claims — AMYET states 30 to 65 miles for the G60, VTUVIA states up to 70 miles assisted and up to 40 on throttle alone for the SF20H.

The Zeal LT7 is the interesting exception. It runs 27.5 × 2.6-inch tires rather than 20 × 4-inch, and narrower tires on tarmac roll far more efficiently. At around 18Wh per mile, 624Wh ÷ 18 ≈ 35 miles from the smallest pack in this comparison — which is why VTUVIA can claim the same 70-mile assisted ceiling for the Zeal LT7 as for the SF20H despite carrying 48Wh less. Capacity is one half of range. Efficiency is the other, and it is the half the price-per-watt-hour table cannot see.

What each brand is willing to write down

This is the second spine of the comparison, and on the evidence it matters more than the first.

The three specifications AMYET omits

Torque. AMYET publishes no newton-metre figure for the G60, the EB26 or the S8. Torque predicts climbing far better than watts do, because watts describe how fast energy is delivered and newton-metres describe how hard the motor turns the wheel. VTUVIA publishes 65 Nm for the Zeal LT7 and 85 Nm for the other two. That does not make the AMYET motors weak. It makes them uncomparable on the number that matters.

Assist sensor type. AMYET does not state whether any of its three bikes uses a cadence sensor or a torque sensor. The G60 and EB26 listings describe assist levels; neither says how the bike decides to help. VTUVIA states cadence for the SF20H, a V-Adapt torque sensor for the Zeal LT7 and a switchable dual sensor for the SX20.

Bike weight. AMYET publishes no bare bike weight for any model. This is the specification a buyer needs to know whether the bike goes up their stairs or onto their car rack, and it is absent three times out of three. VTUVIA publishes 60 lb, 62 lb and 70 lb.

What VTUVIA adds

VTUVIA's specification sheets name things. The SF20H lists LOGAN hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm martensitic stainless steel rotors — brand, size and rotor material. The Zeal LT7 lists an EXSHO suspension fork with 80mm of travel and a Shimano TY200D derailleur with a TX50 shifter. The SF20H names LG cells in the pack. Very few brands at this price name a derailleur down to the model number.

VTUVIA also publishes range as two figures rather than one. The SF20H is stated at up to 70 miles on pedal assist and up to 40 miles on throttle alone; the Zeal LT7 at up to 70 and up to 38. Most brands publish only the flattering number.

Where the pattern breaks in AMYET's favour

Even-handedness demands two corrections. AMYET does the same two-figure thing on the EB26: about 30 miles on throttle alone against up to 60 with pedal assist. That is more transparent than the single band they give for the G60, and more transparent than most brands manage anywhere.

And VTUVIA has its own gaps. None of the three bikes carries a published water-resistance rating, where AMYET states IP65 for the EB26 battery and IP54 for the S8. VTUVIA publishes no folded dimensions for the SF20H. And the SX20 names the EXSHO fork without publishing its travel, where the cheaper Zeal LT7 publishes 80mm. The pattern is strongly in VTUVIA's favour. It is not absolute.

Motors, power and the figure nobody can compare

AMYET's headline is 1000W rated on every bike, with 1500W peak on the single-motor models. VTUVIA's is 750W rated with 1200W peak on two bikes and 500W rated with 750W peak on the third. Read only that and AMYET looks like the more powerful brand by a third or more.

Rated, peak and what a hub motor holds

Rated power is what a motor sustains without overheating. Peak power is a short-burst figure — useful for pulling away from a light or cresting a rise, and not something a hub motor holds through a long climb. When a listing leads with the peak figure it is describing the best few seconds of the motor's life. Both brands publish both numbers, which is to the credit of both.

85 Nm, 65 Nm, and a blank

The problem with comparing 1000W against 750W is that neither number tells you what happens on a 10 percent gradient. Torque does. VTUVIA states 85 Nm for the SF20H and the SX20 — the joint highest hub-motor figure on this site — and 65 Nm for the Zeal LT7. AMYET states nothing for any bike.

The honest position is not that a 750W VTUVIA out-climbs a 1000W AMYET. It is that VTUVIA has given you a number you can hold them to and AMYET has not. The closest AMYET comes is a claimed 35-degree maximum slope for the S8, which is a gradient claim rather than a torque figure and appears on one listing out of three. Brakes and sensors: the two upgrades you cannot bolt on later

Brakes

All three VTUVIA bikes claim hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors. On the AMYET side, only the S8 claims hydraulic. The EB26 states dual mechanical disc brakes explicitly. The G60 states only dual disc brakes with no hydraulic claim — and because AMYET does say hydraulic where they have it, on the S8, the reasonable reading is mechanical.

Mechanical discs pull the pad through a cable, so lever feel is softer, braking force depends more on hand strength, and cable stretch drifts them out of adjustment as they bed in. Hydraulic discs are self-adjusting, need far less hand force, and modulate better — which matters most on a long descent when your hands are tired. On heavy bikes at these speeds we would rank braking above almost every other specification.

Sensors

Five of the six bikes here have a sensor answer. VTUVIA states cadence on the SF20H, a V-Adapt torque sensor on the Zeal LT7 and a V-Adapt switchable dual sensor on the SX20. AMYET states nothing on any bike.

The difference is not subtle. A cadence sensor watches whether the pedals are turning and applies the assist level you selected; push harder and nothing changes. A torque sensor measures how hard you are pushing and scales the motor to match, so the bike surges as you stand on a climb and eases as you soft-pedal. Neither is wrong. But if you care which one you are getting, only one of these two brands tells you.

Weight, fit and payload

On weight, the comparison is one-sided because half of it is missing. VTUVIA publishes 60 lb for the SF20H, 62 lb for the Zeal LT7 and 70 lb for the SX20. AMYET publishes nothing for any of the three. What can be reasoned about the AMYET bikes is direction rather than magnitude: a 1,200Wh pack, two hub motors and full suspension make the S8 clearly the heaviest of the three, and a steel-framed 26-inch fat bike is the most awkward to carry. By how much, AMYET does not say.

Fit follows the same pattern. VTUVIA publishes a rider height range for all three — 5 foot 3 to 6 foot 2 on the SF20H and Zeal LT7, and 5 foot 0 to 6 foot 2 on the SX20, the lowest fit floor on this site. AMYET publishes no rider height range for any model.

Payload is the one place AMYET is competitive on paper: 330 lb across all three bikes, matching the SF20H and SX20. VTUVIA's Zeal LT7 goes to 350 lb, the highest rating on this site. Our guide for heavier riders explains how a payload figure interacts with spokes, rims and braking distance.

Certification, bike by bike

Certification cannot be reported by brand. It has to be read off each listing, because within both brands it varies.

  • AMYET V9-G60 — AMYET states UL 2849 certified.
  • AMYET EB26 — AMYET states UL 2849 compliant, with an IP65 battery.
  • AMYET S8 — no certification claim appears on the listing.
  • VTUVIA SF20H — VTUVIA states both UL 2271 for the pack and UL 2849 for the complete electrical system.
  • VTUVIA Zeal LT7 — no certification stated.
  • VTUVIA SX20 — described as Class 2 compliant, with no UL standard stated.

UL 2271 covers the battery pack. UL 2849 covers battery, charger, controller and motor tested together as one system. They are not interchangeable, and Class 2 is not a safety certification at all — it describes speed and throttle behaviour under the US three-class model.

Read that list and the neat story falls apart in a useful way. The two cheapest bikes here, at $669 and $689, both carry a UL 2849 claim. The $1,299 Zeal LT7 and the $1,599 SX20 carry none. The strongest paperwork on the site belongs to the $1,399 SF20H, which states both standards. If a building manager has asked you for certification in writing, that ordering matters more than the price ordering — and we would not assume a claim carries from one model to its sibling in either direction.

Which brand for which rider

Buy AMYET if

Your ground is flat or rolling, your budget is finite, and range per dollar is the thing you are actually shopping for. On flat tarmac, most of what VTUVIA's extra $710 buys does not surface: torque you do not need, brakes you rarely load, a sensor difference that is a pleasure rather than a capability. The G60 gives you 960Wh and a UL 2849 claim for $689, and the money saved buys a good lock, a rack and most of a second charger. Saying anything else would be dishonest about who the bike is for.

Take the EB26 instead if your roads are bad and you are tall enough that 20-inch wheels feel small under you, and accept that you are paying $20 less for 240Wh less. Take the S8 if you have hills or loose ground and want all-wheel drive, hydraulic brakes and 1,200Wh for $1,049 — but note that it is the one AMYET without a UL 2849 claim.

Buy VTUVIA if

You need to know what you are buying before it arrives. That sounds like a soft reason until you list what it covers: whether the motor can hold a climb, whether the assist responds to your legs, whether you can carry the bike up your stairs, whether it fits you, and whether your building will let you charge it indoors. VTUVIA answers all five for all three bikes.

Within the range: the SF20H at $1,399 if you lift the bike or need certification paperwork, the Zeal LT7 at $1,299 if you commute on tarmac and want the torque sensor and the 350 lb payload, the SX20 at $1,599 if you are around five foot tall or want the switchable sensor.

What you should not do is buy VTUVIA expecting range. At $2.08 and $2.38 per watt-hour, stored energy is the most expensive thing in the box, and the cheapest AMYET here holds more of it than any of them. Common questions

Is VTUVIA worth twice the price of AMYET?

Not on battery, and that is the honest starting point. The AMYET G60 holds 960Wh for $689; the VTUVIA SF20H holds 672Wh for $1,399. You pay $710 more for 288Wh less. What the $710 buys is hydraulic brakes with a stated 180mm rotor, a published 85 Nm torque figure, a stated cadence sensor, a stated 60 lb weight, a 5 foot 3 to 6 foot 2 fit range, and both UL 2271 and UL 2849. If none of those change your ride, the AMYET is the better buy.

Which brand goes further on one charge?

On stored energy, AMYET, comfortably. The G60 carries 960Wh and the S8 carries 1,200Wh against VTUVIA packs of 624Wh and 672Wh. At a typical 25Wh per mile for a fat-tire bike, 960Wh ÷ 25 is about 38 miles and 672Wh ÷ 25 is about 27 miles — both estimates. The exception is the Zeal LT7, whose 27.5 by 2.6-inch tires roll far more efficiently than 4-inch fat tires: 624Wh at roughly 18Wh per mile is about 35 miles, which is why VTUVIA claims the same 70-mile assisted ceiling from a smaller pack.

Why does AMYET not publish a torque figure?

We do not know, and it is the specification we would most like added. AMYET publishes no newton-metre figure for the G60, the EB26 or the S8. Torque predicts climbing far better than watts, which is why VTUVIA states 65 Nm on the Zeal LT7 and 85 Nm on the SF20H and SX20. The absence does not mean the AMYET motors are weak — a 1000W hub motor may well pull hard. It means you cannot compare them on the number that matters, and you are being asked to take the wattage on trust instead.

Are AMYET brakes hydraulic?

Only on the S8. AMYET states hydraulic disc brakes for the S8, dual mechanical disc brakes for the EB26, and only unqualified dual disc brakes for the G60 — and since they do say hydraulic where they have it, the reasonable reading of the G60 is mechanical. All three VTUVIA bikes claim hydraulic discs with 180mm rotors, and the SF20H goes further and names LOGAN callipers with martensitic stainless rotors. Braking is the hardest upgrade to add later and the one we would rank highest on a heavy bike.

Which of these bikes is UL certified?

It has to be answered bike by bike. AMYET states UL 2849 for the G60 and UL 2849 compliance for the EB26, and makes no certification claim on the S8 listing. VTUVIA states both UL 2271 and UL 2849 for the SF20H, states nothing for the Zeal LT7, and describes the SX20 only as Class 2 compliant, which is a speed and throttle classification rather than a safety certification. An unpublished claim is not evidence a bike is uncertified. If your building requires it, ask the brand in writing before ordering.

How much do these bikes weigh?

VTUVIA publishes 60 lb for the SF20H, 62 lb for the Zeal LT7 and 70 lb for the SX20. AMYET publishes no bike weight for any of its three models. The EB26 listing carries a 30 kg figure of about 66 lb, but that comes from shipping data and includes the packaging, so it is not a bike weight. If you have to lift the bike onto a rack or up a flight of stairs, that gap is the single most practical consequence of AMYET leaving specifications off the page.

Is a torque sensor worth paying for?

It changes how the bike feels rather than what it can do. A cadence sensor applies the assist level you chose whenever the cranks turn; push harder and nothing changes. A torque sensor scales the motor to how hard you are pushing, so it surges when you stand on a climb and eases when you soft-pedal. VTUVIA fits a torque sensor to the Zeal LT7 at $1,299 and a switchable torque-or-cadence sensor to the SX20 at $1,599. AMYET does not state a sensor type on any bike, so with AMYET you find out on delivery.

Which single bike would you start with?

It depends which half of the argument you are on. For maximum stored energy per dollar with a UL 2849 claim attached, the AMYET V9-G60 at $689 and roughly 72 cents per watt-hour is the strongest value here and it is not close. For a bike whose specification sheet answers the questions a buyer actually has — torque, sensor, weight, fit, certification — the VTUVIA SF20H at $1,399 is the most completely documented bike in this comparison, and the only one on this site stating both UL 2271 and UL 2849.
