Our verdict — BEST VALUE

The META26 is the sensible EUNORAU. It is the least powerful bike they sell — 500W, 55 Nm, the lowest torque figure on this site — and it is built around comfort rather than capability: a torque sensor, 26 × 3.0 tires, hydraulic brakes with motor cut-off switches in the levers, and a 18-inch step-through frame. The trick up its sleeve is the second battery bay, which takes it from 720Wh to 1,440Wh and turns a normal commuter into something you genuinely stop thinking about charging. Its weak point is the payload: 286 lb is the lowest ceiling here, and for a bike aimed at carrying things that is worth checking before you order.

Buy it if

  • You want the option of a second battery later without buying a different bike.
  • You want a torque sensor and hydraulic brakes on a step-through frame around $1,500.
  • You value the brake cut-off switches — the motor stops the moment you reach for a lever.

What $1,699 buys at the bottom of the EUNORAU range

EUNORAU lists the META26 1.0 at $1,699, with no reduction against it, as of the price check in our data file on August 22, 2026. That is the cheapest bike EUNORAU sells and it is still more expensive than every AMYET on this site and every VTUVIA. Before anything else, it is worth being clear about where that money is not going.

The standard pack is 48V and 15Ah. Multiply the two and you get 720 watt-hours, which is the only battery figure worth comparing across brands — voltage alone tells you nothing, amp-hours alone tell you nothing. Divide $1,699 by 720Wh and the META26 works out at roughly $2.36 per watt-hour. The AMYET V9-G60 is about $0.72 for the same unit of stored energy. On the one measure that dominates every budget e-bike listing, the META26 costs more than three times as much.

So the money is going somewhere else

It is going into a torque sensor, hydraulic brakes with motor cut-off switches in both levers, Samsung cells named on the listing, a two-year warranty and an app that will show you the state of the pack. None of those things appear as a headline number on a product card, and all of them are the reason this bike exists.

That is the trade the whole site turns on. Below about $1,200 you are shopping for watt-hours. Above it you are shopping for the components that decide how the bike behaves, and the META26 is the first bike in the EUNORAU range where that switch has been made. The second battery bay is the real feature

Almost every range claim on an e-bike listing is a guess dressed as a specification. The META26's is different, because the thing being claimed is not a distance — it is a second battery.

EUNORAU sells an optional second 15Ah pack. Fit it and the bike carries 1,440Wh instead of 720Wh. That is not an estimate, an optimistic test condition or a marketing extrapolation. It is 48V × 15Ah, twice.

Now walk the 100-mile claim

EUNORAU claims up to 100 miles with both batteries fitted. Take their own numbers and divide: 1,440Wh over 100 miles requires the bike to draw 14.4 watt-hours per mile. That is a very light figure. It is achievable on a 26 × 3.0 tire, at the lowest assist level, on flat ground, with a light rider who is doing real work through the pedals. It is not a commute.

A more typical draw for a bike of this size and tire on moderate assist is around 20Wh per mile. Run the same division at that rate and the picture changes:

  • Both packs: 1,440Wh ÷ 20Wh per mile = 72 miles. Call it 70.
  • One pack: 720Wh ÷ 20Wh per mile = 36 miles.
  • One pack, throttle-heavy, hills and headwind, nearer 30Wh per mile: 720 ÷ 30 = 24 miles.

Seventy miles is still a long way, and it is the point of the bike. Someone commuting twelve miles each way charges once a week rather than every night, which is a different relationship with a bike than the one most people have. The honest caveat on doubling

The second pack is not weightless, and every extra pound has to be accelerated away from every stop. So two batteries deliver a shade less than exactly twice the distance of one. It is a small effect against a doubling, but it is the reason we would say roughly 70 rather than exactly 72.

55 Nm, and the hill you should not take it up

The META26 is the least powerful bike EUNORAU sells: a 48V 500W rear hub motor producing 55 Nm, which is the lowest torque figure published for any bike on this site. VTUVIA's SF20H publishes 85 Nm from a hub motor. EUNORAU's own SPECTER-S publishes 160 Nm from a mid-drive, and the FLASH publishes 220.

On flat and rolling ground this does not matter. A torque sensor reads how hard you are pushing and scales assistance to match, so the bike feels like a strong version of yourself rather than a scooter with pedals attached, and 55 Nm is plenty to make that feeling convincing. What 55 Nm cannot do is rescue a sustained steep climb with a loaded rack. If there is a hill on your route you already dread, the META26 is not the answer to it, and no amount of battery changes that — energy and torque are different problems. Brakes that switch the motor off

EUNORAU lists 180mm hydraulic disc brakes with motor cut-off switches built into the levers. The hydraulics are the expected part at this price. The cut-off switches are the part worth explaining, because they are the kind of feature that never sells a bike and occasionally saves one.

A cut-off switch kills power to the motor the instant either brake lever moves. On a pedal-assist-only bike this is a nicety. On a bike with a throttle it is a genuine safety layer, because a throttle can stick, a controller can latch, and a thumb can stay where it was while your attention is somewhere else. Without the switches, the failure mode is a motor driving against the brakes: longer stopping distance, heat in the rotors, and a rider hauling on a lever wondering why nothing is happening. With them, the mechanical act of braking is also the electrical act of shutting the motor down. It costs almost nothing to fit, and plenty of bikes at this price do not.

286 lb, and the sum to do before you order

This is the specification that should decide whether you buy the bike, and it is the one buyers skim past.

Every other bike we cover is rated higher. The AMYET bikes publish 330 lb, VTUVIA's SF20H and SX20 publish 330 lb, and the Zeal LT7 publishes 350 lb. The META26's 286 lb is not a rounding difference from those; it is roughly a 45 lb gap against the VTUVIA Zeal, and it lands on a step-through commuter that EUNORAU positions around carrying things.

Do the arithmetic on paper, not in your head

Payload is a total, not a rider weight. Add it up honestly. A 200 lb rider, a loaded pannier at 25 lb, a heavy chain lock at 5 lb and a child seat with a 40 lb child in it comes to 270 lb — inside the ceiling, but with 16 lb of headroom, which a week of groceries will use. Move the rider to 230 lb and the same load is over the limit before the bike leaves the drive.

Exceeding a payload rating is not only a warranty question. It lengthens braking distance, loads spokes and rims that were specified for a lighter total, and puts sustained stress through the frame. Fit, frame and the three-inch middle ground

EUNORAU publishes an 18-inch 6061 aluminium step-through frame and a fit range of 5 ft 4 in to 6 ft 3 in — one size, with the seatpost doing the adjusting, which is normal for a hardtail and fine on a bike with no rear linkage geometry to get wrong. The bike itself is 68.4 lb, which is manageable at the kerb and heavy on stairs.

The tire is an Innova 26 × 3.0. Three inches is a deliberate middle position: more air volume than a commuter tire, so broken tarmac and kerb edges stop registering, but noticeably less rolling drag and less steering vagueness than a four-inch fat tire. Paired with a front fork and no rear suspension, the tire is doing most of the comfort work, which is true of nearly every bike in this class. What it is not is a fat tire. What EUNORAU does not publish

Three gaps are worth naming. EUNORAU publishes no peak motor output, only the 500W rated figure. It publishes no water-resistance rating, so there is no IP figure to hold them to on a bike plainly intended for commuting in weather. And it states no certification at all on this listing.

Where it sits, and who it is for

Within EUNORAU's own range the META26 is the outlier, and deliberately so. It is the only one of the three with a hub motor rather than a mid-drive, the only one under 100 lb, and the only one you would call a commuter. Against the FLASH 2.0 it gives up 165 Nm of torque, full suspension and about two thirds of the maximum stored energy, and gets back a bike you can lift. Against the SPECTER-S 3.0 it gives up the Bafang motor, the 11-speed gearing, the published suspension travel and the stated certification, and saves $1,300.

Buy it if you want a torque sensor, hydraulic brakes and cut-off levers on a step-through frame at $1,699, and if the second battery bay solves a range anxiety you actually have. Skip it if your route has a serious climb, or if your loaded weight comes anywhere near 286 lb. The META26 is a well-judged bike inside a narrow envelope, and the envelope is defined by that payload figure more than by anything in the motor specification.

Does the second battery really double the range?

It doubles the stored energy, which is the honest way to put it: 720Wh becomes 1,440Wh. Range then depends on how fast you draw it down. At a fairly typical 20Wh per mile for a 26 × 3.0 tire on moderate assist, that is roughly 70 miles rather than the headline 100. The 100-mile figure implies 14.4Wh per mile, which is achievable at low assist with a light rider on flat ground and unlikely on a hilly commute.

Is 286 lb payload enough for me?

Add your weight, your bag, your lock, any child seat or panniers and whatever is in them. If the total is close to 286 lb, look at the VTUVIA Zeal LT7 at 350 lb or the AMYET bikes at 330 lb. Exceeding a payload rating is not just a warranty question — it changes braking distance and puts real load through the frame and wheels.

What are motor cut-off brake levers?

Switches built into the brake levers that cut power to the motor the instant either lever moves. On a throttle bike this matters: it means the motor can never be fighting the brakes, whether because of a stuck throttle, a controller fault, or simply your own hand. It is a cheap feature that many bikes at this price omit, and the META26 has it on both levers.

Is 55 Nm enough torque?

For flat and rolling commuting with a torque sensor, yes — you will not notice it lacking. On a sustained steep climb, or fully loaded, you will. For context, the VTUVIA SF20H publishes 85 Nm, and EUNORAU's own SPECTER-S publishes 160 Nm from a mid-drive. If your commute has a hill you dread, the META26 is not the answer to it.

Is the META26 UL certified?

EUNORAU does not state a certification on this product listing. They do state UL certification for the SPECTER-S, so the absence here is worth noting rather than assuming. If your building requires certification before you can charge indoors, ask EUNORAU in writing before you order.
