Privacy policy
A short policy, because this is a static site with no accounts, no forms and no newsletter. Most of what follows is a list of things we do not do.

Who we are
Ebike Rider (https://ebikerider.us) is an independent publication covering AMYET, VTUVIA, EUNORAU and Velotric electric bikes for US buyers. We are not a retailer and we sell nothing. For any privacy question, write to hello@ebikerider.us.
The short version
There is no account to create on this site, no contact form, no comment system, no newsletter sign-up and no checkout. We ask you for nothing, and there is nowhere on the site for you to give it to us. What remains is server-side request logging, optional analytics, and the third parties whose content your browser loads while reading a page. Each is set out below.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store your name, postal address, phone number, date of birth, payment details or account credentials. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not run behavioural ad networks, and we do not sell, rent or share personal information with data brokers. There is no data sale to opt out of because there is no data sale.
We hold no mailing list. Earlier versions of this site described a newsletter; there is not one now, and no subscriber data is held from any previous version.
Server logs
The site is served as static files by a hosting provider. Like every web server, it records the technical details of each request — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, referring page, and browser user-agent string — for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults. These logs are held by the hosting provider under its own retention schedule, are not combined with anything else, and are not used to identify individual readers.
Analytics
The site is built to support Google Analytics 4, optionally loaded through Google Tag Manager. Analytics may be switched off entirely. The site configuration allows the measurement identifier to be left empty, and when it is empty no analytics script loads at all and no analytics cookie is set.
Where analytics is enabled, it records aggregated, pseudonymous information: which pages were viewed, approximate location derived from IP address at city level, device and browser type, referring site, and how readers move between pages. We use it to understand which pages are useful and which are not. We do not attempt to link it to a named individual, and we do not upload or join it to any other data set.
One custom event is recorded: affiliate_click, fired when a reader follows an outbound link to a merchant. It records which link was used and from which page. It records nothing about you personally. Its purpose is to tell us which pages actually help people reach a product, which in turn tells us what to write more of.
Google acts as our processor for this data and sets its own cookies to distinguish repeat visits. Google's own privacy documentation governs what it does with it. Browser-level controls, tracking protection, ad blockers and the Google Analytics opt-out extension all prevent this collection, and the site works normally without it.
Affiliate links and clicking out
Outbound links to AMYET, VTUVIA, EUNORAU and Velotric may carry a tracking parameter identifying Ebike Rider as the referring publisher, so that a purchase can be attributed to us. Following such a link may cause the merchant or its affiliate network to set a cookie in your browser, typically recording only that you arrived from us and when.
Once you leave this site, the merchant's own privacy policy governs everything that happens next, including anything you type into their checkout. We never see your order, your payment details or your address. We do not receive your name from a merchant, and we have no way to connect a sale back to a particular reader. See the affiliate disclosure for how the commercial side works.
Images, video and other third parties
Product photography on this site is served from the merchants' own content delivery networks rather than copied onto our server. Loading a review page therefore causes your browser to make requests to those merchants' image hosts, which will see your IP address and user-agent in the ordinary way.
Video, where present, is embedded from YouTube using the youtube-nocookie.com domain, and the player is not loaded at all until you click to play. Up to that point you see a static image and YouTube receives nothing. Once you click, YouTube receives the request and its policies apply.
The site uses no advertising networks, no social media tracking pixels, no session recording, no heat mapping and no consent-management vendor.
Cookies
Ebike Rider sets no cookies of its own. There is nothing to remember about you: no login, no cart, no preferences.
Cookies may still appear in your browser from analytics, if it is enabled, and from a merchant or affiliate network after you click an outbound link. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
Children
This site is aimed at adults buying electric bicycles. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information — realistically, by emailing us — write to hello@ebikerider.us and we will delete it.
Your rights in the UK and Europe
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, data protection law gives you rights over personal data relating to you. In plain language, you may ask us what we hold, ask for a copy, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask us to restrict what we do with it, and object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
The lawful bases we rely on are straightforward. Server logging and basic analytics rest on legitimate interests — running a site securely and understanding whether it is useful — balanced against the very limited data involved. Correspondence you send us is processed so that we can reply to it.
Given how little we hold, a request will usually resolve to an email thread and nothing else. Write to hello@ebikerider.us and we will deal with it. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Your rights in California
If you are a California resident, you may ask what categories of personal information we have collected about you, ask for a copy, ask for it to be deleted, and ask us to correct it. You may not be discriminated against for asking.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. The categories that exist at all are internet activity data — the pages you viewed — and identifiers such as an IP address, both handled as described above. Requests go to the same address: hello@ebikerider.us.
Correspondence
If you email us, we keep the correspondence so that we can reply, and so that we can trace how a correction came about. We do not add correspondents to any list, because there is no list. We keep what is needed to have the conversation and no more.
Security
The site is static and holds no database of readers, which removes most of what could be stolen. Traffic is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but there is very little here to lose.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and the revised policy applies from the date shown. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the notice. Substantive changes are described rather than slipped in.
Questions about any of this: hello@ebikerider.us, or the contact page.
