What do the turn signals actually do?+
The rear light is integrated with the rack and carries left and right indicators, operated from the bars. The three Discover models are the only bikes on this site that have them. Whether they change your safety is not something we can tell you — we have not ridden this bike, and nobody publishes data on indicator lights on bicycles. What we can say is that they let you signal a turn without taking a hand off the bars, which is worth something in traffic and in the wet. They are an addition to hand signals, not a replacement, and the law where you ride still assumes the hand signal.
Will I get 75 miles?+
Not in ordinary riding, and Velotric is unusually honest about why. Their footnote attaches the figure to a 187-lb rider in Eco at PAS 1 on flat roads, which works out at 9.4Wh per mile from the 705.6Wh pack. A more typical draw on a 27.5 × 2.4 commuter at moderate assist is 15 to 20Wh per mile, which puts real range at roughly 35 to 47 miles. That is still a good day out. It is worth stressing that no other brand on this site states any test conditions at all, so the Velotric figure is the one you can at least reason about.
Why is the weight not published?+
We do not know, and it is the specification we would most want added. Velotric publishes a weight for every other model we cover from them — 39 lb for the T1 ST Plus, 61 lb for the Discover 3, 70 to 71 lb for the Nomad, 75 lb for the Packer. The Discover 3 is the closest relative and the sensible thing to expect is a figure in that region, but that is inference and we are not going to print it as a fact. If the bike has to go up steps, onto a car rack or into a lift, ask Velotric for the number in writing before you order.
What does a switchable torque/cadence sensor mean?+
A cadence sensor only knows whether the pedals are turning, so the motor arrives shortly after you start and holds a set output until you stop. A torque sensor measures how hard you are actually pushing and scales the assist to match, which feels like stronger legs rather than a shove. Velotric publishes this bike as switchable between the two, so you can have the steady push when you want it and the natural feel when you do not. It is the more flexible arrangement, and it is on the cheapest Discover rather than the dearest.
Discover 2 or Discover 3?+
The Discover 3 is $300 more and fills in most of the gaps: an air fork rather than a coil-sprung hydraulic one, 730Wh rather than 705.6Wh, a published 1100W peak, a published 61 lb weight, a front light rated at 500 lumens where the Discover 2’s is stated in lux, NFC unlocking and Google Find Hub alongside Apple Find My, and an 11–40T cassette rather than 11–32T for steeper hills. The Discover 2 is the better value per watt-hour at $2.41 against $2.74, and it has the switchable sensor. Choose the 3 for the fork and the published weight; choose the 2 if neither is worth $300 to you.
